According to records at the Namibian Ministry of Health, some 1 817 employees took 10 895 sick leave days over a six months period between January and June last year while another 960 workers took 2 833 compassionate leave days over the same period. During the same financial year 2004/2005, the Ministry lost 62 employees due to deaths from various illnesses.
